☆ quidditch flyin' around on broomsticks chasing a sparkly gold sphere ⇢ The Rules of the Game Quidditch is quite possibly the most popular sport in all the wizarding world. Each house in Hogwarts has its own team which competes for the Quidditch cup. I'm sure you're just dying to know how to play, ammirite? Well then let's get down to it! There's a large brown ball called a Quaffle. The Chasers attempt to catch this ball and throw it through any one of three rings on the opposing team's side of the field. The opposing team's Keeper, however, can attempt to catch or block the Quaffle. If the Quaffle goes through a ring, 10 points are scored.
But it wouldn't be such a popular game if scoring was that easy, now would it? There are two aggressive balls called Bludgers which target just about anything that moves. To prevent the Chasers from being knocked out of the air, there are two Beaters on each team who whack the Bludgers off course with clubs. Beaters cannot score points; their only job is to protect their teammates (and, on occasion, hit members of the opposing team with Bludgers).
Now, for the final aspect of the game: the Golden Snitch. Each team has one Seeker whose only job is to find and catch this incredibly small and quick golden ball. If they catch the Snitch, they score 150 points for their team and the game ends.
