He goes by his middle name, and uses it so often that everyone just assumes that it's his first. Age: Twenty-nine. Gender: Male. Sexuality: Demisexual. Even though he has Veela blood, he doesn't sleep with just anyone. He has standards, you know! Blood Type: Half-blood. Wizard father + Veela mother. Species: Half-Veela. When he transforms, he dons inky wings with long scales resembling feathers, and his legs become talons. His face does not transform into that of a bird, but he also cannot shoot fire from his hands, as most Veelas can. Familiar: [x] A male falcon named Smúrach for his tendency to get dust everywhere. Connor often refers to him as Smú. Patronus: A phoenix. Boggart: A volley of bloodstained knives rushing towards his eyes. Place Of Work: ⇢ Level 9 in the The Ministry of Magic. Position: ⇢ Head of the Department of Mysteries. Strong Subjects: ⇢ magical theory. It is, after all, what he studies in the department: magic that is not yet understood. ⇢ transfiguration. He's found that with a little creativity, this vast branch of magic can do whatever he needs done. Weak Subjects: ⇢ ghoul studies. He's never truly understood the nature of spirits, and has no desire to. ⇢ divination. Although he works with prophecies every day, he can never seem to predict the future on his own. Wandcrafting: ⇢Wood: Adler. A wood that can somehow find balance within imbalance and order within chaos. ⇢Core: Chimera scale, hoof, and mane. Although apart they are entirely different parts of seemingly entirely different creatures, they come together to make something magnificently powerful. ⇢Length: 9 inches. ⇢Flexibility: Sturdy enough. Personality: Connor is... complicated, to say the least. He acts like a sociable man who has nothing to hide, but in reality he has more secrets stashed away in that brain of his than any of the Unspeakables in his department. He has an incredible mind, and is no less than a true detective and scientist. He knows how to think both logically and abstractly, and often combines these two methods to uncover new discoveries in magic. Due to his various studies, he has an in-depth understanding of human nature, thoughts, and emotions; he could almost be compared to a muggle psychologist. However, although he can discern if someone is lying or hiding their true emotions just by the way they're acting, he doesn't let them know that he realizes that they're trying to deceive him. He likes to be the one holding all the cards in this game he plays every day of knowledge and information. However, he often takes this to an unnecessary extreme. Even when he isn't working, he observes everything: the number of stairs in a building, how frequently a person blinks, by how many seconds a clock is off... Everything. And despite this, he doesn't act like a perfectionist at all. He gives his subordinates lenient schedules and a considerable amount of freedom in what area of undiscovered magic they wish to investigate. And, as it often is when the pursuit of knowledge is involved, Connor tends to push anything that the general society calls "morals" to the side. He isn't completely moral-less, no, but he certainly isn't a saint by any stretch of the imagination. He tends to get in trouble quite a bit with the Department of the Regulation of Magical Creatures for using various animals and magical creatures as test subjects, as well as the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes for some of the less desirable test results he has achieved. However, he always manages to keep his job due to the valuable discoveries he has made in the past and continues to make due to his unconventional methods. He doesn't hold any allegiance to the Ministry, and would quit in a heartbeat if a more interesting job arose, but the Ministry here in Britain has a large amount of unique objects that are crucial to his work and houses no shortage in manpower. Although he may seem like a selfish person by using the Ministry as a tool to further his own personal pursuit of knowledge, he can actually be quite selfless. He doesn't like to see people suffering (unless, of course, it's for the sake of science), and hates to see others like himself scorned due to their blood purity. Although he acknowledges their differences, he views all sentient beings with similar mental capacities to be on an equal social level. Connor has an uncanny control over his actions and emotions. He never gets angry unless the touch of anger necessary to transform will get him what he wants. Whatever he does, feels, or pretends to feel is all usually for a reason, whether that reason be logical or simply for his amusement. He tailors how he acts, and thus how others view him, to fit the situation; the stage lost a great actor when Connor decided to work for the Ministry. HISTORY: Connor has traveled quite a bit in his lifetime. He was born in Ireland and raised there by his father, but went to school at the Durmstrag Institute. After he graduated with flying colors in nearly all his classes (with the exception of divination), he traveled to Bulgaria, his mother's homeland, and became an Auror. It wasn't a bad job, but he got bored with capturing dangerously powerful wizards after a while. Sure, they're powerful, but not smart enough to be much of a challenge. So, when he began searching for any jobs that required research, he found himself in the British Ministry of Magic in their Department of Mysteries. At first they had simply hired him so they could experiment on how Veela charm differed from true love, but he soon became a valued asset. His most prized accomplishment was when he was promoted to the head of the division (apparently the previous head had crossed some moral line in human experimentation during a test pertaining to the Death Chamber. It's a shame, really. Connor would have done the same thing). Perhaps his worst memory was when he watched a criminal be executed. The only reason he was even there was so he could see Thestrals and discover how they could only be visible to those who have seen death. But still, the man would have made an excellent test subject. It really was a shame that the Ministry preferred killing prisoners more than using them for the sake of science. Aspirations: All Connor wants to do is learn. He wants to shine light onto the mysteries of the unknown and misunderstood, slowly narrowing the gap between human understanding and truth of reality. INVENTORY: -- A moleskin bag with some sort of food inside -- usually an apple -- for when he's hungry during those late night experiments. -- Erm, he doesn't carry around many possessions with him. He finds that knowledge is much more important... -- Face Claiming: EL SHADDAI: ASCENSION OF THE METATRON, Lucifel, Connor Doyle. MY NAME IS ICE AND I'M A WITCH. |
